A Love & Drama Short Film Script

Genre: Romance / Drama

Duration: 15–18 minutes

Theme: Love, regret, emotional distance, and the pain of unspoken words

MAIN CHARACTERS

Sameer (26) – Caring but emotionally reserved. Believes love is shown through actions, not words.
Hiba (24) – Sensitive, expressive, deeply emotional. Needs reassurance and connection.

SCENE 1 – INT. BEDROOM – NIGHT

Dim light. Rain tapping on the window.

Hiba sits on the edge of the bed, holding her phone. Her eyes are watery.

Sameer lies beside her, scrolling through his phone.

Silence fills the room.

Hiba (softly)
“Sameer… do you even notice me anymore?”

Sameer doesn’t look up immediately.

Sameer
“I’m right here, aren’t I?”

That answer lands heavily.

Hiba
“Being here isn’t the same as being with me.”

Sameer sighs, slightly irritated.

Sameer
“You overthink too much.”

Hiba looks away. A tear rolls down.

CUT TO BLACK

SCENE 2 – FLASHBACK – EXT. PARK – SUNSET

Warm colors. Laughter.

Sameer and Hiba sit on grass, sharing ice cream.

Hiba (smiling)
“Promise me something.”

Sameer
“What?”

Hiba
“If I ever feel alone… you won’t let me stay that way.”

Sameer looks at her—soft, sincere.

Sameer
“I promise.”

They laugh. Hands touch.

SCENE 3 – PRESENT – INT. KITCHEN – MORNING

Hiba prepares breakfast quietly.

Sameer rushes in, grabbing his keys.

Sameer
“I’m getting late. I’ll eat outside.”

He doesn’t notice the table already set.

Hiba (trying to sound normal)
“I made your favorite…”

But he’s already leaving.

Door closes.

Silence again.

She sits down slowly. The untouched breakfast becomes symbolic.

SCENE 4 – EMOTIONAL BUILD

Montage:

  • Hiba texting Sameer: “How was your day?” → Seen, no reply
  • Sameer working late, distracted
  • Hiba staring at old photos
  • Their conversations getting shorter

VOICEOVER (Hiba)
“Love didn’t disappear… it just stopped being expressed.”

SCENE 5 – INT. LIVING ROOM – NIGHT

Hiba watches an old video on her phone—Sameer laughing, calling her “his world.”

Sameer enters.

Hiba
“Do you remember this?”

He glances briefly.

Sameer
“Yeah… old times.”

That hurts.

Hiba
“Why does it feel like I’m the only one still living in them?”

Sameer sits, tired.

Sameer
“Hiba, life isn’t a movie. People get busy.”

Hiba (breaking)
“Busy enough to forget love?”

SCENE 6 – CONFRONTATION

Silence turns heavy.

Hiba (tears building)
“I don’t need perfect… I just need to feel something from you.”

Sameer looks frustrated.

Sameer
“I do everything for us! I work, I provide—what else do you want?”

Hiba stands.

Hiba (voice shaking)
“I want you.”

That line lands hard.

SCENE 7 – BREAKDOWN

Hiba (crying now)
“You stopped talking… stopped looking at me like I matter.”

Sameer softens slightly—but still defensive.

Sameer
“I’m just tired…”

Hiba
“And I’m just… alone.”

Silence.

SCENE 8 – THE LINE THAT DEFINES THE STORY

Hiba looks directly at him—raw, vulnerable.

Hiba
“Sameer… make me cry.”

He’s confused.

Sameer
“What?”

Hiba (through tears)
“Say something that hurts… but at least it’ll mean you feel something.”

Sameer freezes.

That moment hits deeper than shouting ever could.

SCENE 9 – INTERNAL CONFLICT

EXT. STREET – NIGHT

Sameer walks alone.

VOICEOVER (Sameer)
“I thought love was responsibility… not realization.”

Flashbacks:

  • Ignoring her texts
  • Walking past her emotions
  • Choosing silence

VOICEOVER (Sameer)
“She wasn’t asking for more… just asking for me.”

SCENE 10 – HIBA ALONE

INT. ROOM – NIGHT

Hiba packs a small bag.

She pauses… looks around.

Memories everywhere.

She sits and cries quietly—not loud, just deeply broken.

SCENE 11 – CLIMAX

INT. HOUSE – LATE NIGHT

Sameer rushes in.

Sees the packed bag.

Panic.

He finds Hiba sitting still.

Sameer (breathing heavily)
“You’re leaving?”

She doesn’t answer immediately.

Hiba
“I’m tired of begging for love that used to come naturally.”

Sameer steps closer.

SCENE 12 – REALIZATION & CONFESSION

Sameer’s voice breaks.

Sameer
“I didn’t realize I was losing you… because I thought you’d always stay.”

Hiba looks at him—but guarded.

Sameer
“I thought love meant being there physically… I didn’t see how absent I became.”

Silence.

Sameer (emotional, real)
“You asked me to make you cry…”

He pauses.

Sameer
“But the truth is… I’ve been the reason you cry every day.”

Hiba’s tears fall again—but differently now.

SCENE 13 – TURNING POINT

Sameer steps closer.

Sameer
“I don’t want to fix this with promises… I want to fix it with presence.”

He gently holds her hand.

This time, she doesn’t pull away—but she doesn’t fully respond either.

SCENE 14 – RESOLUTION

EXT. PARK – SUNSET (PARALLEL TO FLASHBACK)

They sit in the same place as before.

Quiet.

Not perfect.

But trying.

Sameer looks at her—this time truly seeing her.

Sameer (softly)
“I’m still learning… but I’m here.”

Hiba looks at him.

Hiba
“Don’t just be here… stay.”

He nods.

FINAL SCENE

Close-up of their hands.

Slowly holding—not tightly, not loosely—just real.

FINAL LINE (VOICEOVER – HIBA)

“Love doesn’t end when people stop caring…
It ends when they stop showing it.”

FADE OUT

MESSAGE OF THE FILM

This story reflects a real modern relationship issue:

  • Emotional neglect in long-term relationships
  • Misunderstanding love languages
  • The danger of silence

In today’s fast-paced world (2026), many relationships don’t fail because of lack of love—but because of lack of expression.

FINAL THOUGHT

This is not just a love story—it’s a reminder:

👉 Love must be felt, not assumed.
